With over 14 years’ experience, The Woodlands is a frontrunner within the dementia care sector, offering homes of excellence and environments that are discerning in design, developed to engage through an enhanced person-centred blueprint.
The Person-Centred Approach
For The Woodlands, the term ‘person-centred’ has exerted considerable influence on our day-to-day practice and how we celebrate individuals for who they truly are.
From residential care to respite care services, we endorse the notions of independence and autonomy, whilst valuing individualism and a symmetrical relationship that supports and encourages through what we do best – caring for older people.
The Woodlands offers two primary levels of care: dementia care and residential care.
What Does Good Dementia Care Look Like?
Dementia is not an isolated diagnosis; it’s an overall term – and although Alzheimer’s disease accounts for 60-80% of cases, everyone’s dementia is markedly different. When a person is living with dementia, their brain changes or re-wires itself, impairing cognitive abilities such as memory and communication, as well as their behaviour and feelings.
